The product is not stale if it sold past it's "best by date". We sell those items at a substantially reduced price. Those items are available in a few areas of the store that are clearly identified as "SALE" items. We do have a limited amount of products available that are past the "best buy dates". It's very important to us to insure you are putting safe quality candy in your belly. See, there are numerous items that we do not carry because of our lack of confidence in a manufacturer for these types of issues. As for the giant gummy bear, we don't sock it because the manufacturer would not comply to our strict requirements of insurance liabilities to insure that the product would be covered in case there was a problem. I respectfully disagree with your assessment of high prices. As an example on those hard to find items that are not available in most stores, Sweeties prices were on average 25% lower than chain stores like Cracker Barrel, Speedway, 7-11 and like chains. My last check 6 weeks ago showed that Sweeties was higher in price on about 160 items of the 4,500 items that we stock. May I please tell you that I personally shop and price check all of the major stores to insure Sweeties sells competitive items at competitive prices. Well.this is rare!.I am sorry we disappointed you during your recent visit.
